The purpose of this research was to investigate 1) the characteristics of savings and investment of informal employees in Bangkok, 2) the employees’ financial discipline, 3) factors affecting their saving decisions in National Savings Fund (NSF), and 4) factors affecting the amount of their savings in NSF. The participants in this research were 402 informal employees in Bangkok, derived from quota and convenient sampling from 6 Bangkok areas with 67 people from each area. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics comprising frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Inferential statistics used to test the hypotheses were binary logistic regression and multiple linear regression at a significance level of 0.05. The results show that time deposit was the most popular option of savings and investment among the participants, followed by life insurance, and investment in gold, diamond, and gemstones respectively. In terms of financial discipline, the participants’ saving and spending discipline was moderate. The number of family member and their saving and financial discipline had a positive effect on their saving decisions in NSF. The participants’ age range of 36 to 45 had a negative effect on their saving decisions in NSF. Educational qualifications lower than a bachelor’s degree and the number of family members had a negative effect on the amount of savings in NSF at a significance level of 0.05.
