Abstract: The objectives of this research were to: 1) develop cartoon animation on mathematicals problem solution through characters in Thai folk tale for primary 4 (grade 4) students, 2) compare the students’ learning achievement test after using the cartoon animation, and 3) develop problem solving skills for mathematicals of primary 4 (grade 4) students. The samples of this study were 30 primary4 (grade 4) students studying in the second semester of academic year 2017 at Watkhian School of Ayutthaya municipality, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District. The research instruments consisted of the cartoon animation on mathematicals problem solution, quality evaluation form towards media and contents, learning achievement test, and examination measuring problem solving skills. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, and t-test for dependent samples. The results showed that: 1) the cartoon animation on mathematicals problem solution on content and media quality had the highest level with an average of 4.53 and 4.73 respectively, and the efficiency criterion was 81.20/83.00; 2) the average score of post-test was higher than that of pre-test (14.91), and the analysis of t-test during and after learning was different at .05 statistically significant level; and 3) the students’ mathematical problem solving skills was at a high level with an average of 2.59.
